This is beautiful Japanese Ko Imari Blue and White Deep Bowl. It is from middle Edo, around 1780’s which is Anei to Tenmei Period. The Bowl has the design of Ayame (Iris sanguinea) finely painted In Sometsuke (Blue and White) with water, rock and bird design. The top rim has Bekko (tortoise shell) design. This is not Hibachi but it is rare form deep bowl... The size of Chawan: 4 1/4" Dia x 2 1/4" High.
Measurement was taking from existing part This is genuine Japanese Shoki Imari Excavated Chawan (Bowl). It is dated from early Shoki Imari which dated back to 1630-50 maybe little earlier. Shoki Imari did not have the process of making porcelain with bisque, glazed then design painted. Porcelain making process skipped bisque and glaze making, rather they put right into glazing and painting design done in same time... The size of Bowl: 5 7/8" Dia x 1 9/16" High...
