The size of Scroll: 20 1/4” Wide x 73 1/4” Long. Image area size: 15 1/2” Wide x 46 3/4” Long. This is beautiful Japanese Bijin-Ga Scroll painting. The scroll has Japanese Bjin-Ga, Beautiful Japanese Girl design painted. It is painted on fine silk background. The condition of scroll is very good. Please note girl’s left eye lid area has mole like spot. The colors of girls Kimono is just beautiful with green colors. Please note two Jiku end, Scroll ends are new wooden parts. not original ones. There is some stains mainly lower part of Scroll as the photo showing. Upper part of scroll also has some minor stains as well since the scroll is from early 19th century. The scroll is made of silk, both border as well as main painting area. The border of scroll has mixed with some darker silk thread which purposely woven to show. The main painted area of Bijin-Ga, are free of any major stains, except some minor stains on right side lower area of girl's foot area, as well as left side of her feet area. The colors of girls Kimono is just beautiful with green colors. The are much noticeable as the stains on lower border area. The scroll has signature of artist name, Kouho as well as his chop seal. Dating the scroll from early 19c to mid 19 th century. 1820-1860. There is famous Bijin-ga artist name Yamada Shuho. Kouho’s second Kanji name Ho is same as Shuho’s Ho. I believe Kouho is teacher of Shuho from the style of painting Bijinga.
