The size of Koro: 7 7/8" Diagonal x 5 7/8" High
This is very fine beautiful Japanese Ko Kiyomizu Koro (incense buner)
from Bakumatsu (end of Edo ) around 1850's. It has Sho-Chiku-Bai
(Pine Tree, Bamboo and Plum Tree) windows designs around the Koro
with Shippo (cloisonne) design round window done in open works.
As we showing open work from inside on our last photo.
The cover has the design of Sho-Chiku-Bai in Ougi (Fan) shape.
There are also round Uchiwa fan shape as well in different design of
Kiku and Hagi (bush clover) design. Between those window
Kiri (paulownia) mon design in Gosu blue with Karakusa design with
gold works intricately painted. Koro had bamboo decoration
on the each side as well as foot of Koro.
The condition of Koro is excellent, free from any damage.
Koro came with Awase Bako. It is very handsome Old Kiyomizu Yaki Koro.
Please note ash for the Koro is supplied by separate container.
When Koro is used, that small container will be placed inside of Koro.
