Beautiful Japanese triptych woodblock print by Toyokuni III (Utagawa Kunisada). The subject of triptych is from famous one of Setsu Gekka, flower, Hanagumo. According to the information I gathered over Japanese internet. Toyokuni III created this series, but there is only one existing and it is not this Hanagumo. There is a bijin already in the boat, second one standing back of Yakata Bune(pleasure boat which was used for dinning and drinking occasion) and wainting for third lady coming down from stair. The cherry blossoms blooming. The workmenship of woodblock print is fantastic, as one of lady's face and hair area close up showing. The size of line to cave this kind micro hairline can not be repeated. I saw Japanese NHK tv program which was tried to re-create Edo ukiyoe-print by modern master. He could not reproduce the fine micro hairline. The condition of print excellent as you can see. The fame has some wear spots on mainly bottom frame area. The tirptech are famed as floating. No margin are left. The center piece has "Ichiyosai Toyokuni-Ga"(painted by Ichiyosai). Ichiyosai is also the pen name by Toyokuni III used. The both left and right print has Kouchoro Toyokuni signed along with Cho Koubo Jiro(carved by Jiro). Far left print has the publisher name Ibasen and logo of Ibasen as publisher.
