The size of Bowl 10 7/8" Dia(about 11") x 3 3/8". Beautiful Japanese Kutani Porcelain Bowl. The bowl has fine design work of White Raicho(thunerbird) with finely painted with sea water wabe splashing. It is beautifully painted with even water splashing detail. There is Sunrising on the bacground. Raicho has very fine detail feather works painted. The photo is notshowing well on chest hair detail. Outside has Fuji mountain painted one side. Other side with three eggplant. Japanes has call these painting as if you dream first in New Years day "Ichi Fuji, Ni Taka, San Nasubi."(first Fuji Mtn, Second Hawk and third saw three egg plant which give you good luck and you will have a wonderful new year. The condition of bowl excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. There is one small indentation above left white wing area. A couple of tiny iron spots. A couple spots at white wing enamels were repelled before drying out. Th spots above Fuji Mountain are fron insde rim area's same turquoise paints sticks which are very minor from original kiln. Dating from 1868-1912, Meiji periods. Raicho looks like white hawk looking bird. It is very famous in Japan used as Express train name because Raicho live in cold country. |
