| The size of Octagonal Bowl: 9 3/8" Across, 9 3/4" Longest point x 3 3/4" High. Wonderful quality Japanese Ko Imari Iroe Porcelain Octagonal Bowl. This is the best quality Ko Imari bowl ever seen in the design, colors, shape as well as the condition. It is made by fine quality porcelain. It has three marumon desing dragon in the center with gold Karakusa on Sometsuke background. There are 8 panels of most beautifully painted panel with the design of Ho-O bird with Kiri design done by gold, red, turqoise green and sometsuke blue in 4 pnels. Other four panels with the Karakusa design with Chidori(Japanese plovers) and water design surrounded by Sometsuke and gold works. Between the outside panel and center design, there is also with Chidori and red geometrice design. Same wonderful painting repeated outside 8 panesl. Foot rim area with oxoxox design. Then very finly painted in Sometsuke around them. The condition of bowl is superb, no chip, no crack and no hairline as well as the noone scratch and the gold condition is in mint. There is one small minor glaze stick on side of dragon which is very minor for this much quality piece. The bowl sit well. Dating the bowl from late 18th to early 19th century. | |||||||||||||||
