Beautiful Wood block print by artist, Igohei Kido. Woodblock print was done on Shiro washi(white Japanese paper). The design of Foo Dog holding Botan(peony flowers) different colors. It is finely done. There are gold works around Foo Dog figure. It has artist chop sealed on lower right. The frame is with nice quality Roiro (black) glossy makie frame with glass. Base of frame is wood. The date of woodblock print done in 1980-1990. Excellent condition. Please note wooden stand not including only for taking picture.
Igohei Kido(1945- ) He was born in Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan. He graduated Tama Art University, Art Degree. As he graduated, he has followed 8th, Torii Kiyotada. From 1981, he worked as the assistant of Torii Kiyomitsu. He helped to make Kabuki-za E-Kanban(Art Board), Kabuki Stage Art, while he was doing that, he worked also on Mokuhan-ga(wood block print) making. In 1987, He had one man show which his works has been caught in Japanese art lovers. He has been making woodblock print since then. When Igohei was child, his father used taking him to Kabuki. He was amazed with the coloration of lavish Kabuki stage and was impressed. He followed his master 8th Torii Kiyotada and he received basic training as artsit. After 8th Torii Kiyotada passed away, he decided to give up the brush, but he again decided to help 9th Torii Kiyomitsu. |
