| The size of Goblet: 7 1/8" High x 3 5/8" Dia top., 3" Dia foot. It is beautiful fine detail work of Japanese Akae Kutani Porcelain Goblet made by Matsubara. I believe it is made by famoun Kutani artist Matsubara Shinsuke(1846-1899). It is signed Kutani Matsubara Zo on the bottom. His work is in some Kutani Museum such as Kisei Isogaya Museum, Ishikawa Pref. Goblet has made by very fine thin and uniformely made porcelain thickness of wall size only 1 mm or so. I do not know how can you make this size in that thin size. It has beatiful Akae design with gold. One window with Chinese men open their collection on the table including scrolls. On other side with pomegranate tree, chrysanthemum flower and peacock bird design finely painted. There are two windows with sparrow beautifully painted such a detail. Between the windows there are fine gold decoration over Akae background. Inside goblet has one side with cherry blossoms and other side with chrysanthemu flower design. The goblet stem has fine gold finish as well. the condition of goblet excellent condition, no chip, no crack and no hairline. The gold condition kept so well almost none wear of gold. The foot of goblet very slighly wobble but stand well. Dating from Meiji period, 1868-1890. | |||||||||||||||
