| The size of Bowl: 9 1/2" Dia x 3 7/8" High. Japanese Kutani Akae Bowl. The bowl is made with porcelain body. It does not have crackle glazing as some of later year pieces. It has Akae(red) design done with gold. The center of bowl has three different windows, one with Kinko leaf, one with gourd shape, and treasure shape design. Each window with flower and bird design finely painted. This bowl is from Edo, earlier Akae work which developed as Iida-ya style Akae. Dating this bowl from ealy 19c, 1820-40 before Iidaya Akae work. The condition of bowl excellent, except some wear area inside. There is Kamahi line outside bowl which photo showing. It was made in the drying process. However, the bowl was proceeded to finish as completed. The Kamahi(original kilin flaw) line is only outside bowl. No line inside bowl. The bowl is well sounding. Th Kamahi line make it even better to be that old looks. | |||||||||||||||
