| The size of Covered Bowl: 3 5/8" Dia x 3 1/4"High. Pretty Japanese old Hirado porcelain Covered Bowl in Sometsuke(blue underglaze). This is very good quality Hirado blue and white covered bowl. Very good quality porcelain and glazing. The shape of covered bowl has gracious looking. The body of bowl is finely made. The bowl has two window design, one with Kanshi(Chinese poem) other with landscape design. The story of Poem, like this, "Looking over old garden in fall time, where water and mountain are at other side, to think about own life." The between the window by blue underglazing work with very detain fine work of Sumibiki(also called, Senbiki which is white knock out tecnique which is much harder than just painting). It is well balanced bowl with fine brush works. The conditon of bowl is excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline as well as no flaw. Dating from Meiji, 1900-1910. We have the pair available.
