| The size of Makie Tray: Large: 11" Sq x 1 1/16" High, Small: 10 3/8" Sq x 1 1/16" High. Beautiful Japanese Makie Obon(Tray) set of 2 pcs. Very fine Makie job (High gloss finish)with the design of Ho-O(phoneix bird) and Kiri design. Ho-O done in Takamakie. Kiri flower has some Kirigane works. Makie works are done with very intricately detail works. Kyo Makie. Background of Ho-O and Kiri flower done in Roiro(black), then the border line and outside are done in lavender color finish. Backside bottom tray is done in also roiro(black) finish. The condition of both trays are very good. Large tray has the top two corners wear as 10th photo showing. Left photo(top left corner inside with short hairline in the size of one inch), very minor. This is only one hairline. Other with little aged wear as 11th photo showing at the bottom edge which can be touched up if you choose to do so. Smaller Tray is much fine condition than large one. Only with a couple of wear spot on the top side edge. No hairline. They are well kept for the age. It came with wooden box. I have supplied fine New Himo(cloth string) as well as new orange cloth for storing. Very fine Makie artisan's work. No restoration done. Dating from Edo kouki, mid 19th century. | |||||||||||||||
