| The Title: EL SFORZADO RENDON PICANDO UN TORO, DE CUYA SUERTE MURIO EN LA PLAZA DE MADRID. Signed by GOYA in the plate ( lower right ) Framed size: 23"X27 1/4" ; Paper size: 13 7/8"x 17 11/16" Embossed area size: 9 7/8"x13 5/8"(25cmx35cm) The condition of Etching : Very good. This is the one of most collectable subject of Goya's Etching title: "EL SFRORZADO RENDON ONTO....." from famous suite title:"LA TAUROMAQUIA" which is consisting of 28 etching pieces and this is most famous subject in those 28 pieces. The title is translated into English as "The forceful Rendon stabs a bull with the pique, from which pass he died in the ring at Madrid.) The piece is from 5th state edition limited to 200 made in the Calcografia for the Circulo de Bellas Artes of Madrid in 1921. Original Edition was published in 1816. Then, six subsequent editions poshumously published by the Calcografia in 1855, 1876, 1905, 1921, 1928 and 1937. It is very rare to find this nice impression subject. The etching is done with burnished aquatint and burin on heavy laid paper. Circular embossed stamp with portrait of Goya in lower right margin It is listed in Delteil 251 ; Harris 231. The etching number is Taur. 28 w. Goya's Catalog III(1808-1819) number 1206( La Tauromaquia is from 1149-1243). This etching with COA. We will supply original COA with the purchase. | ||||||||||
