| The set of One Box, 5 square tray and one large tray set. Japanese roiro(black) makie box and trays set. The size of Box: 6 5/8" Sq x 2 1/2" High. Smaller Tray zise: 6 1/8" Sq x 1/2" High. Large Tray size: 14 3/8" L x 8 5/8" W. Very pretty and interesting Japanese Roiro(black) makie, lacquer box and tray set. The subject of design on the box and tray is Uchide No Kozuchi with mice design. Mice are done in Silver Makie. Uchide no Kozuchi is magic hummer which produce the terasure when you hummer few times. It is said on large tray, the "If you hummer the Kozuchi, you will see the treasure in your hand" Lacquer on sureface is done over cloth with black lacquer. The design is done in Taka Makie(reaised lacquer). The condition of box and trays are excellent, they looks like never been used. Dating from Taisho to early Showa. 1920-1930'S. The mice are symbol of wealth in Japan. Sometime, mice design came with rice bail. Where the mice live always food and wealth around. The set came with wooden storeing box. | ||||||||||||||
