Lovely Scroll Painting Kitten by Osawa Sekka

The size of scroll: 80" Long x 26 3/4" Wide, Painting area size: 63 1/4" Long x 21 1/4" Wide. Beautifuly painted Japanese Scroll painting the subject of Koneko and Neko(kittens and mother cat). The scroll done by silk background, the matt as well as bacground of painting. The painting detail is fantastic. Four kittens are playing around mother cat with great expression. The brush works are great. The peony flower and tree are painted beautifully as well into the detail of each leaves. There is one butterfly painted over upper left. The hair of cat are painted lovely. There is even a bee painted at the leg of mother cat in such a detail.(please seee close up photo at item#726383). It is painted by Osawa Sekka. There is signature and his seals are lower right. There are two more seal as well. It came with Kiri(paulownia) wood box. The condition of scroll is very good except the scroll has tiny needle point size to felt pen point size spots around the scroll which can be noticed if you look in close range. No large and major stains. Dating the scroll from late Edo to mid Meiji, 1860-1900. Please see close up photos at item#726383. |
