The size of Bowl: 9 7/8" (25cm) Dia x 3 7/8"(10cm) High. Very fine Japanese Daishoji Imari Porcelain Bowl. The bowl has beautiful work of Kiku(Chrysanthemum) foliate design with four different detail decoraton. there are also three white Kiku mon design between petal. Same type decoration were painted on back side as well. The condition of Bowl, excellent, no chop, no rack and no hairline as well as almost none scrach and no enamel loss. It is marked with "Ki-Gyoku-Hoken-no-Chin". Only marking seen on fine Ko Imari pieces. Dating from Meiji Period (1868-1912) Daishoji Imari This fine Imari Oobachi(large bowl) was made in Kaga/Kutani Area which called "Daishoji Imari". It is getting very popular among Japanese Antique Imari collectors because of fine workmanship which represent early fine Imari works of around Genroku Period(1688-1703) and other "Kenjote" which were used for Gifts among Daimyo(feudal lords) or High class people. During end of Edo, Kaga-Daimyo Maeda ordered to create the reproduction of Finest Ko Imari piece mostly from Genroku Period which started Daishoji Imari in order to sustain their financial source for Kaga clan. This continued thru Meiji Period. This is fine example of Daishoji Imari work. All of workmanship is done by best painter available in late Edo(Bakumatsu, end of Bakufu, Shogun Government). |
