Fine Sometsuke Porcelain Tokkuri by Seifu Yohei III

The size of each Tokkui: 5 " High x 2 3/4" Widest Dia. Very finely made with fine porcelain quality Japanese Sometsuke Tokkuri Pair by Seifu Yohei III(1851-1914). It has the design of Shida(fern leaves) and vine design finely painted with Ume, Plum flower(five flower petal) design. Sometsuke(blue undrglazing) on pine needle leaves. The purple/lavender color works are done underglazing called "Yuriko" and also called "Shinsha-Yu" which created by ancient China, Yuan Dynasty (13th) with using copper to create the red, pink and lavender color. This tokkuri has lavender color. They are not overglazed. It came with Tomobako by Seifu Yohei III. The cover said, "Seika Ji"(blue and whitle porcelain). "Bin, Ittsui"(pair oof bottle) with chop seal of Seifu Yohei III. Inside cover said, "Teishitsu-Gigeiin"(member of imperial household artist). "Seifu Yohei-zo"(Seifu Yohei made) with gouard shape chop seal. There is also one Tomonuno(matching cloth) with the seal of Seifu. Only one matching cloth. There is another cloth but only supplied for keeping the tokkuri. The both tokkuri has hand carved signature by Seifu Yohei III himself, not chop sealed stamped. From checking the signature and writing on box and item, the pair tokkuri were made around 1897, Meiji 30th. Please see Page 79 on Sekisa's book. The condition of both tokkuri are excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline. A couple of needle point mark on lower tokkuri as close up photo showing. This is first sometsuke Tokkuri pair by Seifu Yohei III ,I have seen. Darrell-san, you have Seiji, Celadon Tokkuri you purchased in August 2012. This is much finer Tokkuri. Please note, both tokkuri top edge has Beni finish(Tetsu yu), iron glazed rims.
