This is very rare wonderful watercolor painting by Seth Corbett Jones, renown American artist from Rochester, New York. I believe this is best of his watercolor painting I have seen. The workmenship and painting every parts details are just amazing. The evening scene of French style palace room with the lady presenting ballet dancing for the small crowd of ten peoples. Seven people are seated and three of them are standing. Each person's body expression are very interesting. Lighting of whole room are radiant from one large chandelier with candles light. The marble floor reflect all of objects onto the floor. Artist did not miss single reflectin on the floor which making real feel of shiny marble. Fire place mantle clock showing 8:00 o'clock sharpe which showing the time as well. The ballet dancer's figure is also finely painted with lighting and shadow. The Carpet and stage drapery are well contrasted with the color of the room, centered of people's eyes focused. Large two doors far end with the angelic painting. Entire work and detail brush strokes are fantastic. Even the green velvet set cover convey the feeling as well. The condition of watercolor is excellent. The watercolor painting done on the watercolor paper then it is mounted on old heavy paper board. Little black line below watercolor painting is pencil marking to place the painting on the board. It has little knick on the lower left corner as well as upper left, but they can be trimmed when framing. I just wanted to leave as original condition of board so you can take to your framer when you frame. Also there is another old back boartd which has the stamp of "J. A. SAALWACHTER, dealer in WALLPAPER WINDOW SHADES, MOULDINGS, PICTURE, FAMERS, ETC. 217 CENTRAL PARK, ROCHESTER, ...N. Y." This varify it is from Artist, Seth C. Jones' home town. I am shipping unframed because of preventing the painting damage. The date of painting not known but I believe it is from later his life since his signature are stylized(evolved) from earlier his signature. There many of his works capture the nature scene withe sheep. But if you go to American Art Gallery site, you will see his figurative painting such as "Middle eastern genre scene". www.americanartgallery.org/artist/home/id/953 Thank you very much for looking our painting. This painting is rather small comparing that painting but the detail lines workmanship is breathtaking. Estimated $1,500.00-$1,700.00. The hammered price including US Domestic priority mail insured. For international shipping, we will adjust and calculate shipping cost accordingly to your country location.
