Finely Made Japanese Hina Doll Jichou, 3 Guys

The size of each Doll figure: 7-8" Long x 4 3/4" High. This is very fine Old Japanese Kyoto Dolls by Kawashima Shuzan who made very fine Japanese Hina dolls. He was one of finest doll maker in Kyoto. Hina dolls are used for Girls festival in March 3rd, called Momo No Sekku, with many imperial household figures including emperor and empress. These three guys are called Shicho who taking care the garden of palace. One with bloom, other one with laker, and last one with dustpan. The each guy's expression is so finely done. Three faces, laughing, crying and angry face which are human expression. Also usually used as Naki Jogo(crying), Warai Jogo(laughing) and Okori Jogo(angry) when people get drunk. Shicho are only Hina dolls with human expression on their face among them. Each doll has silk cloths. Each doll face, hand and legs are made by Japanese lacquer finish. One of them has hat(Eboshi). It came with wooden storage box( box size 14 1/2" Long x 10" Wide x 6 1/2" High. The condition of dolls are excellent. One of doll's thumb has hairline as photo showing. Little spots at the finger where the doll were holding, bloom and laker. No broken parts. Dating from 1930-40's. It is singed Shuzan Saku(made) with his chop seal.
