Exquisite Japanese Seto Chaire, Tea Caddy by Shigeru

The size of Chaire: 3" High x 2 1/2" Long, 2 1/4" Wide. Very fine Japanese Seto Chaire made by Famous Seto artist Yamaguchi Shigeru. It has very unsually fine shape of Chaire with handle. The front center body are with indentation finish which make more attractive. It is finely made with nice pottery and glazing finish. It came with Kiriwood(paulownia) Tomobako as well as the silk Shifuku. Also the lid is made of ivory. The cover of Tomobako written as Ko Seto, Chaire, signed by Shigeru and chop seal of Shigeru. The condition of Chaire is excellent shape, no chip, no crack and no hairline. Dating from pre 1960. Yamaguchi Shigeru was born in Setoshi Akatsu, in Taisho 14th(1925) as the son of renown Seto artist 1st Yamaguchi Jotestu. His work has been sought thru Japan. |
